Baseball - Fall 2022

LWYA Recreational Fall Baseball is an eight (8) week season that includes ten (10) scheduled regular season games for ages 5 and up.

Blastball is a basic fundamentals game for ages three (3) and four (4) and holds a six (6) scheduled game season.

Players are assigned to divisions based on the player's age as of August 31, 2022 (including Blastball) in accordance to "PONY Baseball/Softball Rules and Regulations". Each player will be added to a team regardless of skill level and/or past participation.

Registration fees cover the cost of the player's jerseys, hat, socks and belt. It will also cover operating costs (i.e. umpires, field rental and preparation, utilities, etc). Players will be responsible to purchase other uniform items, such as pants, cleats, playing glove and batting helmet.

Regular Season starts in September and ends in October. Games will be scheduled during weekdays and Saturdays.

NOTE: ALL registration fees must be received no later than August 13th. Registrations that have not paid by the deadline will be considered incomplete and the participant WILL NOT be placed on a team. Full refunds are not available after uniforms have been ordered. NO REFUNDS available after September 10, 2022. Payment plans are available upon request on a case by case basis (please contact us to discuss).

  • `What does my registration fee provide?: Registration covers the cost jerseys, hat, socks and belt. It will also cover program operating costs.
  • What age group will my child play in?: Age is determined by the player's age as of 8/31/2023. LWYA strictly adheres to PONY rules regarding age. Birth certificates are required.
  • What is Blastball?: Blastball is a parent-coached, fundamental game designed as a sport introduction. Parent participation on the field during the first few games are required, however players usually learn quickly.
  • What happens next after I registered?: Coaches will contact players once teams are formed. If multiple teams exist in a division, player evaluations will be held. Players will meet the coaches, demonstrate abilities, and will be drafted.
  • No one contacted me yet, what's next?: If you have not heard from a coach before the start of the season, contact the Baseball Commissioner or send message via "contact us".
  • When and where are the practices held?: Coaches will provide the practice schedule and locations are held at one of the local fields determined by the Head Coach. Practices are held shortly after registration period is completed.
  • Where and when are the games located at?: Coaches will provide the game schedule and will also be posted on the site along with locations. Home games are held at the Lake Worth City Park. Away game locations varies.
  • Are there any equipment specifics?: Equipment needed are glove, rubber/molded cleats (Steel cleats only allowed in 14U), athletic cup, bat, and helmet.
  • What type of bat do we need?: Due to high cost of bats and USABat requirements, it is highly recommended to speak to the coach before making a purchase. Some coaches may have bats available for use.
  • How do I find out about rainouts?: Coaches are responsible for informing the team of any rainouts. Field closures and game cancellations will also be displayed on the website. Contact the coach with all game questions.
  • What time are the games cancelled?: During the week, decisions are made by 4pm. On weekends, decisions are made as early as possible (usually by 7am). See website for updates or contact the coach with all game questions.
  • Are cancelled games rescheduled?: Every effort will be made to reschedule cancelled games due to weather. Games cancelled due to forfeit or non-weather related reasons will be considered on case by case basis. No refunds available.
  • Is there a rule book?: LWYA abides by "Official Rules of Major League Baseball". MLB rules are superseded by PONY rules when applicable. All rules are superseded by interlock rules prior to beginning of season.
  • Can I request to be on a certain team?: Yes. Players can request to be "protected" from the draft prior to player evaluations. Limited accommodations per team. Requests are first come first serve basis.
  • How do I become a coach/team parent?: We are always in need of volunteer coaches. If you are interested, fill out the volunteer application. Commissioner will select the coaches each season. Volunteers are subjected to a background check.
  • Can I bring my own team?: Teams created by a manager with 10 or more players may request to play for LWYA and considered protected from draft. For all-star plays, manager may not be eligible to manage during first year.
